Okay, so I had originally planned on getting a whole lot of cleaning done over the weekend, but those plans kind of fell through. I was able to get some done initially, but the male testosterone kicked in and caused me to just spend the weekend relaxing and chillin. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
One of the good things however, is that I got to finish a letter that I had been writing to a friend for a while now. For those of you that might think that writing a letter is just a 15-30 minute deal, for me, it is hours. The reason being is that I like to put a personal touch on my letters. Not just type em and send em. So for these, I employ my calligraphy skills. So of course, the letter is written in a word processor beforehand, printed, and it used as my guide as I rewrite it in calligraphy. This way, the grammar, spelling, and flow of the letter is actually worked out even before I start writing. And as far as the letter itself, a paragraph usually takes around 30 minutes to write, with a short break for my fingers in between.
So in other words, if you get a handwritten letter from me, in calligraphy at that, consider yourself special. And before some of you even ask, I will not do your wedding or event invitations in calligraphy handwriting. Takes too long and people generally don't appreciate it enough. Nowadays, writing is a lost art which is often taken for granted.
I guess the other time waster this weekend was playing Supreme Commander. For those into real time strategy, this is the game go get. Disregard Starcraft, Warcraft, Command and Conquer, etc… They are all crap when compared to this. At least when it comes to the sheer size of the battles. A game very satisfying and aggravating at the same time. To spend over an hour building, attacking, defending, etc… just to see a friggin monkeylord sneak up on your base and start wrecking shop will make you want to throw your PC out the window.
I guess I'm not the digital gaming reincarnation of Napoleon.
Next weekend, I have it set in my heart to either go out to Denver in order to drive my niece up there and get some good photos while there, or if that falls through, to get some BBQ on the grill for some good August cooking. Woot!
