Apple, we’re dissapointed in you

Apple adds five apps to the iPod touch — for a price – Engadget

It’s not all love for the iPhone today — Apple just announced that Mail, Maps, Stocks, Notes and Weather are all coming to the iPod touch. New touch owners get ‘em all for free, but all of you early adopters will have to cough up: the bundle is going to set you back a whopping $20. The new Maps app can’t use cell-based location-finding like on the iPhone, but it can still figure out where it is using SkyHook’s WiFi hotspot database. The touch also supports webclips and the reconfigurable home screen now, but we’re a little unsure why all this has to cost $20 — why no love, Apple?

Wow!! Just wow!  So let’s get this straight Apple.  Your early adopters of the Ipod touch can get this update, but it will cost them 20 dollars, on top of the large price that they paid for their 8 and 16 gig Ipod touch’s, while new users of the ipod touch will get the new features at no added cost.  Hmm, I hope the hackers get busy with cracking this crap.

Not only that, but the firmware update that was just released has all of these features embedded into it.   Paying the 20 dollars just merely unlocks it.   Well, unless your a rabid Apple fanboy, that’s just not going to cut it.  It would be nice to be able to carry my e-mail around with me as well as have access to my notes, stocks and the current weather.  Oh! I’m sorry, I ALREADY have that ability through my much beloved Palm Treo.  And guess what, I just got an update to Windows mobile 6 at no added cost.  Wow!

And that little new laptop of yours.  Yea, it’s thin, it’s ultra sexy if you’re into thin and lightweight crap, but 1700 bucks as a base price? What kinda crack are you guys smoking?  No cd-rom drive, no pcmcia, only 1 usb port, no external vga port, and yet the damn thing is 1700 bucks?  This is the type of crap that will always ensure that in the pc arena, Apple will not overtake pc’s.   Even with those idiotic commercials that cater to the technically challenged.

I’ll take power and features over good looks any day.
