Starting to Wake Up a Bit

Well, thanks to some groups that I’ve been a part of on Facebook, I’m starting to get a fire lit within me when it comes to really taking advantage of the skills and resources that I have at my arsenal when it comes to web sites.  More specifically, the content management systems Joomla and WordPress.   I’m definitely a fan of both for their strengths, but I’ve been doing a bit of reconsidering lately as far as which ones I’m going to be using for my business site.   I’ve always been in the process of developing the Joomla version because it’s very flexible and can expand very easily due to it’s features and plugin support, but it definitely takes a while to master.

WordPress however, I’ve been using from just a blogging standpoint and really didn’t consider it from a business standpoint until recently.   Especially considering how much the platform has grown since I’ve started using it years ago and the insane amount of plugins and themes that are now available.   Some of them with capabilities that I just didn’t even think were possible on the WordPress platform.  Not only that, but I’ve seen some pretty effective business sites that were built on the wordpress.  So with it’s simplicity, I’ve pretty much made up my mind that I’m going to just go with WordPress and keep the Joomla version in development until it’s ready.  Not hard making that decision when you figure just how fast you can get a site up and going with WordPress vs the extensive configuring you’re going to be doing with Joomla.

I figure it’s also about time that I get back on the ball and start getting motivated to do more in photography.  The more I hear stories about people being taken advantage of by bad photographers and also seeing some sub par work out there being provided to customers, it’s kinda getting me fueled up to get back into the game more.  Not to mention that I can really use the income boost and that I need to take advantage of the extra hardware that I have added to the arsenal this year.   Also, gotta get caught up on a few photos and get them back into the hands of those that requested them so I can move on to some more projects.    I swear sometimes, it just feels that you get into a rut and it’s really hard to move.  Lack of motivation can really be a pain and I’ve been having a huge struggle with that lately.   Hopefully, the exercise will help increase that.
