New Lens Has Arrived!

   Posted by: Marcellus   in Uncategorized

Just had to show off some of the test pictures from the latest addition to my lens collection.  Latest edition is a sigma 105mm Macro lens along with Canon ring light flash.  I have to admit, macro photography is a little bit harder than I thought, but then again, I love a challenge.  Holding that bad boy stready with such a small depth of field is a pain in the neck for sure.  But man, it’s fun!

Here are some first time shots the shots

Back Home

Being down in Tulsa with friends over the weekend really made me realize just how much I miss hanging with those guys and being in Tulsa.  Just a general, more laid back environment than it is here in KC.   I generally find myself in a better mood while I’m down there than I am here in Kansas City.

So yea, back in Kansas City and I’m already a bit bummed and the week isn’t even over yet.  Go figure.  Part of the issue with that is most of the people I know here are either busy with marriage, kids, or work.  Or just  not really the type of person I would want to spend a considerable amount of time with.  Man, I need to find that special one and settle down before I go crazy haha.

Isis was very dang glad to see me when I got back.  I guess 3 days of not having anyone around can really make you appreciate someone when they come back home.  I guess even cats can understand that because she’s been hanging more closely than she has before.  When I sleep, she cuddles up right next to me in bed. And as I type this blog entry, she’s laying down next the desk.  Whichever room I’m in, she’s in.   And I have to admit, I’m glad I let Antoinette talk me into adopting her.   I think I need her more than she needs me.

But anyway, here’s a few pictures from the weekend.  I really didn’t do any scenery type shots around the city though.  More often recently, I’ve actually just wanted to leave the camera behind on a few trips and just chill for a bit.   And I got to snap off a few pictures of Kelsey and his wife in the park before heading back to Kansas City, dodging storms along the way.

But anyway, the main reason I went down there is for my boy Kelsey’s weightlifting get together, which I thought would be pretty interesting to photograph.  So here are some shots from the weekend.

IMG_8586 So I had to step out from behind the camera and get into the fray and represent KC.  I didn’t expect to get this one up.  Surprised myself actually.

IMG_8614 Paid a visit to Kelsey while he was at the station on Sunday.  Looks much more interesting than being stuck behind a desk all day.  Even got to play with the hose! Woot!

In the meantime, I gotta get some other photos finished and burned to cd.  Stephanie and Jamie, thanks for being patient with me.  Been mad busy lately.  Not to mention Photoshop going belly up on me.  Argh!

Chillin in Tulsa

   Posted by: Marcellus   in Uncategorized

Having a good time chilling down in Tulsa with my buddy Kelsey and his wife Lauren.  For the most part today, I plan on chilling and hanging out before taking some pictures of the sight, etc… around Tulsa this evening.

Also got some good shots of the weighlifting events that Kelsey has brought us all down for.  Even though I came to hang out, it was good to get under some weights for a bit.   These guys are just huge though, so I didn’t think I could really compete, but imagine my surprise when I deadlifted 500 pounds, which was only matched by 1 other person in the group.   Man, I should have actually entered hehe.   But I was too busy with the camera and lighting anyway.  But man, talk about exhilarating.  Didn’t think I had that much raw strength in me.  I can only imagine what I could do with a bit of training.

I plan on sticking around and then leaving on Monday afternoon sometime.  Getting back home with some time to still chill and relax before heading back into work on Tuesday morning.   I also plan on taking some portraits of some of my friends down here while the lighting equipment is with me.   And speaking of pics, Kelsey’s wife Lauren got an AWESOME picture of me while deadlifting the 500 pounds.  Talk about full of win.

I bet my poor little kitty misses me by now.  She must be freaking out considering I’ve been gone for over 24 hours.
