Elevators Hate Me!
Yea, I know, strange way to title a blog entry, but I thought that this was something that I might want to share. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always had a bit of a problem with elevators. But here’s the deal. I’m not clausterphobic, I’m not afraid of heights, nor am I afraid of being entrapped behind closed doors shortly after someone has farted in one. So what’s the problem with them? I’ll explain..
When it comes to actually getting into an elevator and riding it up or down, I don’t have a problem. Never have. Got stuck once, but that never deterred me from getting on to elevators afterwards. The actual problem is in my dreams. I don’t know what it is, but every time that I get into an elevator in my dreams, when going up, it has to go so fast that it literally pins me to the floor. And when doing down, it goes so fast, that I’m actually floating in midair from weightlessness. 90+ percent of the time, the elevator slows down right before it gets to my designated floor, although sometimes, the doors don’t match up perfectly and I have to climb out. And quite often, once I climb out, the elevator falls and crashes. As far as actually being killed by a falling elevator, that’s only happened once. And in that dream, I was living in some sort of spirit state, witnessing the birth of my son who was conceived shortly before my death. Typical me, getting a shot off on the way out hehe.
I had mentioned this to someone in a casual conversation and she mentioned that she read somewhere that riding up on a elevator signifies a rise in money or wealth, and that descending means your are going deeper into your conciousness, etc… I think I would have to disagree with that theory, because if my subconcious was trying to tell me that I’m rising in wealth or power, I highly doubt that it will do it in a way that causes me to scream out for fear of my life or wondering if I’m going to be splattered against the ceiling of the top floor. Same thing for the descending. And considering that my subconcious managed to KILL ME at some point, I don’t think that it’s signifying a journey into deeper conciousness.
Dream…Elevators…Just…Hate…Me!
I could perhaps turn this to my advantage though. In real life, I never fear getting onto the elevator, but in my dreams, even though I don’t know it’s a dream, I know that elevator is out to kick my ass if I were so step foot onto it. So if I can train myself to recognize this, I could realize that I’m in a dream and more easily make the transition to a lucid dream state. If you don’t know what that is, check out this link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream
We’ll see how that turns out. And if anyone has any ideas on these dang elevators in my dreams that have plagued me since I was a little boy, I would love to hear your ideas. I will state that in most of these dreams, the elevator in question is located in various hotels, many of them having 100+ floors.
